All you can eat sushi

So Shawn showed up to Shanghai with a plan to eat at a particular restaurant that serves all-you-can-eat sushi for 180rmb ($28USD). I wasn't feeling so hot about eating sushi in Shanghai only becuase their standards of "fresh" are very different then mine. But since Shawn was SO excited and the restaurant turned out to only be about a 25 min walk from my house I was game. Not only was it all you could eat but also all you could drink (part of the reason that we waited until Friday to go).

Trisha fully enjoying some public art.

Off we went to eat a ton of raw fish. We ran into all sorts of things along the way. WE saw tons of Chinese New Year decorations, lots of public art and a terrible street fight. It appeared that the street fight was caused by a car/motorcycle accident. There was a crushed motorcycle and men yelling at each other. I walked past it a fast as I could b/c like all other accidents in China it had already gathered a lot of spectators and people were trying to break the fight up. Not sure how successful they were and I didn't want to see what happened next.

We finally arrived. Can you see the happy look on Shawn's face?

Finally we figured out which was the right restaurant and made our way to the second floor. We got seated in a room with lots of seats around the Teppanyaki style grill. To start it was only the 3 of us in the room but soon we got a large group of blond Norwegian women our age joining. I think that Shawn was feeling pretty good about being the only man at the table with a bunch of cute girls surrounding him.

Chef George!

About 30 mins into eating we got the 2 last people to fully fill out table. Finally all the groups were socializing. There was cheers-ing and gam bei-ing around the table. Everyone was drinking beer, sake and plum wine. There was grilled seafood, lamb chops, oysters, prawn, mushrooms, beef and all sorts of other things being cooked teppanyaki-style. Our chef was George and he didn't seem to understand any English but he sure cooked some good food for us.

There were all sorts of people eating with us

Shawn ate about 5 of these plates

Gam bei!

Banana pancakes for desert

Jerry hooked us up with one last bottle of sake. Not that we needed it.

We ended up getting kicked out at 11:30, the last group of ppl to leave. Thank goodness we had Trisha with us b/c she reminded us that we had to be up early for a 7am flight. So we walked a couple of blocks then caught a taxi home.

Crazy Friday!
